MONTEREY SELECT BOARD
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF MARCH 20, 2006
The regular weekly meeting of the Monterey Select Board was opened at 8:30 a.m. with members Michèle Miller (Chair) and Jonathan Sylbert present. Selectman Michael Storch was absent from the meeting.
In attendance for the meeting: Town Secretary Melissa Noe; Laurily Epstein of the Monterey News
· The Board met with Director of Operations Maynard Forbes to review Highway Department items, as follows:
o Lake Garfield drawdown
o Rawson Brook cleanup
o Tree Warden issues
· The Board met with Chief Gareth Backhaus to review Police Department items.
· The Board discussed a proposed appointment as Memorial Day Coordinator with Chuck Mielke.
· It was moved by Miller, seconded by Sylbert, and unanimously voted that the Select Board endorses a Proposition 2½ override vote at the Annual Town Meeting.
· The Board met at length with Town Accountant Barbara Gauthier and Finance Committee members Dan Moriarty (chair) and Debra B. Mielke to work on the FY 2007 budget.
· Following a discussion of the cost of mowing throughout Town, the Board scheduled an informational meeting for Saturday, March 25, at 9 a.m. at Town Hall to discuss the issue with members of the Cemetery Committee, the Parks Commission, and the Library Trustees.
· The Board announced that it will conduct a public meeting on Monday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall to inform the public of the proposed plan for Fairview Road. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
· Highway and Treasury Warrants were signed. The clerk was given instructions regarding correspondence. The Minutes of March 13, 2006, were approved as corrected.
· It was unanimously voted that the meeting be adjourned (12:05 p.m.).
